Replacing the SF90 Stradale was never going to be straightforward. Ferrari's first hybrid V8 wasn't an easy sell when it launched either, and it took years in the range before the fanbase came round to it. Its replacement, the 849 Testarossa, has managed something rarer: dividing opinion on the name before anyone had even seen the car move. Having now stood in front of two examples in person, I've got a clearer view of where the controversy is justified and where it isn't.

The New Ferari Luce – A Controversy

The day the automotive world knew was coming has finally arrived. Pull the silk sheet off, take a deep breath, and look closely. Ferrari, the undisputed high priest of internal combustion, a brand built on the screaming operatic theatre of the Colombo V12, the raw, unadulterated howl of the 458 Speciale's naturally aspirated V8, and the spine-tingling crescendo of the 812 Superfast, has gone fully electric.

The New AMG GT3 and GT Black Series

In a move that mirrors Toyota's parallel development of the GR GT and GR GT3, Mercedes-AMG has built the next AMG GT Black Series alongside the next-generation GT3 race car. Unlike previous Black Series models, where a road car was prepared for the circuit after the fact, this is a genuine homologation special. The road car exists in part to legitimise the race car, which means the aero, cooling and chassis geometry are dictated by the rulebook of professional motorsport. If you want the closest thing to a GT3 car with a number plate, this is it.
